Artist in Residence Program
Eligibility: Visual Arts, Literature, Music, Performing Arts, Architecture,
Design, Dance. Artists are selected by a committee review of the artist’s proposal and a portfolio of work.
Location: Hwy 133 in Sunset, SC. The Old Edwards Reserve at Lake Keowee is located on the shores of Lake Keowee, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Reserve has over 700 property owners and can also draw participation from the surrounding area.
Work Environment: Exhibition/installation space. Artist will have access to various sites on the property to work or display work. It is the hope that the residency can provide an opportunity for interaction between the artist and the members of the Reserve community.
Lodging/Meals/Other Facilities & Services: A furnished private Guest House or a private Guest House room is provided for the artist. Accommodations are currently limited to a maximum of two people—the artist and a partner. If
children accompany artist, additional costs are to be covered by the artist. No accommodations for pets are available on site. Lunch and dinner will be provided each day during the residency. Depending on the time of year, 1-3 food venues will be open. The Foundation will cover all non-alcoholic beverages only. Access to the fitness center, pools, hiking, kayaking, tennis, and golf will be available. Travel expenses will be reimbursed up to $500, and a weekly stipend of $1,000 will be offered to cover other expenses.

Artist is responsible for: Materials and equipment, additional food and beverage items (other than what the Foundation covers), personal transportation, and personal expenses. Additionally, he/she must acknowledge The Reserve Foundation in any publicity material related to time spent at The Old Edwards Reserve at Lake Keowee.
The Reserve Foundation Expectations & Opportunities: The Foundation
will assist with transportation costs of supplies and work to be exhibited. Each artist in residence is expected to be available for at least two interactions/events with Reserve property owners and invited general public, as well as open to creating a piece to be contributed to the Foundation. Donated work must be received no later than one year after an artist’s residency. Artist must be willing to invite the community to experience the creation of his/her artwork. This may involve regular studio visiting hours, a scheduled lecture or workshop or some other forum that the artist is comfortable with.
Proposal Requirement: Please send an artist statement, email and phone number, project proposal including projected costs, along with a current resume, at least 3 professional references, and 10 digital images or musical equivalent of recent work to:
